With Thanksgiving already in our rearview mirror we are officially in the holiday season!
You may have spent the weekend braving the crowds in search of the best Black Friday deals or maybe you are browsing all of the Cyber Monday sales right now.
While I am all about saving money wherever you can, I also believe that the holidays are a time for giving, and not just to those in your immediate circle. This year with the fires in California and the refugee crises around the world constantly in the news, the needs in our world are more obvious than ever.
Which is why I wanted to take just a minute to talk to you about a newer trend that I couldn't be more excited about. #GivingTuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a movement that was started in 2012 in response to the growing commercialization and focus on consumerism around the holiday season to promote charitable giving using social media as a catalyst.
The movement has really picked up steam in the last couple of years with major companies, including Facebook, offering to match donations made on that day. An estimated $274 million was donated last year on that day alone!
So as the first wave of holiday sales begin to wrap up and we all come out of our Thanksgiving food comas we would love for you to join with us to support one of our Sponsored Causes on this #GivingTuesday.
Food For The Hungry works to end poverty in all forms worldwide. They currently have a matching grant from U.S. Agency for International Development that will multiply the impact of your donation by 22x!
Rapha House exists to fight modern day slavery, specifically sex slavery in Haiti and Southeast Asia. The doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation will be matching up to $40,000 of donation on #GivingTuesday!
Water.org is working to end the global water crisis by providing people in developing countries with access to safe water and sanitation.
Compassion International spreads the love of Jesus by caring for those most vulnerable to the effects of poverty, providing these children with the tools they need to break out of the cycle. You can choose a child to sponsor personally or join us in giving to support those waiting on a sponsor.
If you want to give to something closer to home you can visit the #GivingTuesday website to find charities near you!
